Houston’s largest nonprofit health care system to lay off 350 people

Memorial Hermann Health System, Houston’s largest nonprofit health care system, is cutting about 2 percent of its workforce, or about 350 jobs, the company confirmed in an emailed statement.

The job cut announcement comes after the system’s CEO, Dr. Benjamin Chu, stepped down June 19. Chuck Stokes, executive vice president and COO, was named interim president and CEO.

It’s the second time the system announced job cuts this year, as other area health care systems have also laid off workers in 2017.…
