Pared-down ‘bathroom bill’ with focus on schools wins Texas House approval

The Texas House gave final approval to a pared-down version of the so-called “bathroom bill” on May 22, a partial win for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and fellow social conservatives that dismayed transgender rights advocates.

The bill including an amendment to create separate bathrooms for transgender students inside the state’s public schools, the Austin American-Statesman reports. It now needs a vote from the Senate.
