Texas senate passes Houston pension bill

The Texas Senate passed Houston’s pension bill May 1, a significant step for Mayor Sylvester Turner’s pension reform strategy that’s been nearly a year in the making.

The 25-5 vote moves the bill out of the Senate and over to the Texas House of Representatives. The bill passed the House Pension Committee on a 6-1 vote April 5, the Houston Chronicle reported at the time.
