Major health care system scoops up three Houston hospitals

HCA Holdings Inc., the largest for-profit health care provider in the U.S., is buying three Houston hospitals from Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.

Nashville-based HCA’s (NYSE: HCA) deal with Tenet (NYSE: THC) includes the 423-bed Houston Northwest Medical Center, 181-bed Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital and 444-bed Park Plaza Hospita, per the release. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
