Dollar Express plans to close stores in Houston and nationwide, cutting jobs

North Carolina-based Dollar Express is preparing to close stores nationwide, cutting 45 jobs in the Houston area.

The company notified the Texas Workforce Commission that it plans to liquidate and close all of its stores around June 30. There are five Houston stores, and one in Pasadena, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letters sent to the TWC.

The closures would affect the following Houston locations:
