Texas House closes curtain on film incentives amid budget debate

Republicans in the Texas House eliminated the film and video game incentives program on the floor April 6, one of a slew of amendments to rid the budget of non-essential services.

Members filed more than 400 amendments as the lower chamber debated its budget plan. Multiple conservatives on the floor attempted to zero out programs they considered to be superfluous to the purposes of Texas government.
